Welcome Stewards alumni!
Stewards alumni are grouped together to include any participants who were involved with programs such as: Environmental Stewards, Community Stewards, AmeriCorps VISTA, B.R.I.D.G.E. Network, etc.
Now under the new brand and combining of these amazing programs, all previous and current members of these programs are considered part of the Stewards Individual Placement Program.
The Stewards Individual Placement Program offers land and water management agencies and non-profit organizations opportunities to accomplish specific projects and provides individual placements for young people interested in gaining experience in natural and cultural resource management.
With support from Stewards Program staff, interns are placed with state and federal programs and non-profits (host sites) in 10-week to year-long positions throughout the United States. Participants take part in a variety activities working alongside non-profits and state and federal agencies to make a difference in their communities. Projects include capacity building, GIS mapping, river restoration, bird counts, cultural resource restoration, trail design, community outreach, working with youth, and other projects related to environmental or community stewardship
The Stewards Program started in 2010 and has since placed and supported thousands of interns in 42 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In 2017, the Stewards program will have placed 525 members who worked on roughly 750 projects and leveraged the efforts of 12,000 volunteers. And all of you helped make that a possibility!
